wear something red took it’s starting point with an incident happening in berlin in summer 2024. a protester was arrested for holding a red circle. the arresting police argued that the circle was meant to symbolize a triangle.

what is shown here is a first manifestation of the work as it was presented at EMAF (european media art festival) this year.

part of it is a looped animated video showing an alarm-bell. every six to eight minutes, the bell goes off with the sound of several different bells… sounding an alarm or calling to prayer for about one minute.

in the background, cats

cats is a hasty set up blockage of a door. it keeps the door jammed. there is only a small gap to escape or to enter.

the two cats, a childhood painting from 1971, when I was 7 years old, are guardians and protectors who are now planning their own escape.

elsewhere in the room, a text:

two cats study the door like a theory.

outside waits, untamed, the breathing weather.

we will leave quietly, they decide, and invent a life without human hands.
