flat surfaces

'places that no longer exist' is the title for the flat fabric things of which I show a few here. all have been made between 2016 and 2020. simular to the drawings, they are documents from a process of cartography of territories I could once access, at times when my childhood vocabulary was 'insufficient' to name and think my deeply felt enchantment and connectedness with the world. the more language I developed growing up, the lesser became my encounters with enchanted places. the grids as expanding nets of lines, dots, and intersections serve as mindmaps to relocate some of these impressions and the places they created. 'places that no longer exist' are not representations of these places. woodblock print, diverse fabrics, paint, spray paint, sometimes embroidery.
